Grasshoppers in the final of the Austrian Baseball League!

While the championship has only just begun for our U15 football team and the team has taken the lead after 3 games, the national baseball league is coming to an end. And the Grasshoppers have produced a season of superlatives to mark their 30th anniversary. In the basic round, they finished second in the East Division, the best result of the regular season so far. As if that wasn’t enough, they were by far the best offensive team in Austria. The new T-shirts (see below) are proof of that! Underdogs</del>! ;-)

In the quarter-final against the Vienna Wanderers, the chances were still good and a best-of-3 series at eye level was to be expected. It turned out to be as spectacular as it gets in baseball. On the first day, each team won a game by a clear margin, while the following day was one of the wildest games the Hoppersfield has ever seen. The Grasshoppers were in the lead for a long time but fell behind for the first time in the ‘last’ inning (9). They were able to equalize, in the 10th inning the same picture, in the 11th no runs in the 12th and thus third overinning the Wanderers took the lead again, but a home run by Tobi Werner brought 2 runners home, the victory and thus the first entry into the semi-finals were achieved.

Last weekend, the Hoppers traveled to the other end of Austria to face the reigning champions, the Dornbirn Indians. The Hoppers were underdogs in any case, but were able to win two close and exciting games on the first day and sensationally advance to the final.

The final series begins on 10.10. in Traiskirchen, we congratulate the Hoppers on this huge success in their 30th year of existence, which makes the 20th anniversary of dydocon seem almost puny ;-)

Good luck in the final against the Vienna Metrostars, we will keep you up to date!
